Menu for 7/5 and 7/6 pick up, lunch tomorrow (Thursday), and an upcoming class June 29, 2017

Filed under: Uncategorized — adaba @ 4:42 am

Good evening! Or more likely morning, by the time you read this…

*The menu is up for pick up next Wednesday and Thursday. View it here, and maybe get those orders in so you can focus on your weekend and holiday festivities and know that healthy food is under control for next week! Pick up times are as usual – Wednesday July 5th 4pm-7pm and Thursday July 6th noon-3pm.

*In case you didn’t get orders in for this week, there are lots of extras, so come check out the grab and go from noon-3pm tomorrow. Or, stop in for lunch between 12:30-2pm when I’ll be serving up 3 different options:

  • black bean soup garnished with red cabbage slaw, pickled radish, and jalapeno millet muffins
  • sprouted quinoa veggie bowls with roasted (sprouted) chickpeas
  • veggie pancake wraps – naan overstuffed with red lentil veggie pancakes, crispy veggies, and fermented cashew raita

$12.50 or get your zero waste discount (10%) on any of these three meals by bringing your own plate/bowl and water bottle.

*I’m planning another class for July 29th at 11am (hopefully to beat the heat!). The theme will be flavor…how to understand the balance of flavors (with Ayurvedic six tastes as the guide) and make nourishing and delicious sauces that will transform and uplift any meal. Some of your fav sauces will definitely be included in this class (lemon ginger, fermented cashew cream cheese/raita, pesto, balsamic or chipotle drizzle/aioli…). $55 per person. Preregistration/pre-payment requested.

Happy day!

Menu for June 28-29; lunch today, and class this weekend?? June 22, 2017

Filed under: Uncategorized — adaba @ 2:01 pm

Hello and good morning!

I’m doing my best to get the menu out to you sooner, so here you go!

I am serving lunch today (Thursday 6/22) from 12:30-2pm. Your choice of roasted cauliflower quiche or sausage pizza plus a side salad for $12.50. Get 10% off if you bring your own reusable plate and water bottle:) Zero waste please. There will also be some sweets if you are inclined toward a little treat after lunch ~ blueberry fig muffins with pecan streusel topping made from sprouted quinoa ($4), or power cookies ($1). And, there are a couple of pieces of coconut cake left…first come, first served!

I’m ready to get started on my cookbook and I figure the only way to do it is dive in. The topic of the first chapter will focus on sprouting and the basics of using grains, beans, nuts, and seeds. It appears the weather will be cooler this weekend, so I will hold a class at Julia’s Kitchen if I can get at least 10 people committed to coming. It will be on Sunday at 4pm. I know lots of people are away and busy this time of year, but hopefully it will be a go! I’ll share the basics of and my love for sprouting, as well as cooking and using your sprouted foods. We will make fresh sprouted sesame tahini, hummus, roasted chickpeas, and millet cakes. We will talk about the ins and outs of various cooking techniques and tricks, and how to make these healthy foods turn out just as you like them! The cost of the class will be $55/person and will include some hearty snacking together at the end of the class.

I plan on being here for the rest of the Summer for preorders, and in a couple weeks I should have a little more help in order to have a more regular daily grab and go available. Maybe a pop up Sunday brunch, cooking class, lunch, or dinner can happen every so often too!

Happy second day of Summer!

Preorders for June 21-22 June 16, 2017

Filed under: Uncategorized — adaba @ 10:17 pm

I hope your Summer is starting off fabulously! I will be back next week for preorders to be picked up Wednesday 6/21 4p-7p or Thursday 6/22 noon-3p. Please have your orders to me by Monday at noon with preorder+your name in the subject line. Please place your orders via email to juliahellerman@gmail.com. This allows me to have all of the orders in one place and to search to be sure I don’t miss any.

Please note that soups and kitchari are not on the menu during these hot weeks. I know a few of you do still want them, but I don’t get enough orders to make them at this time of the year. As I get back into the flow of things, I’ll go back to rotating the menu, but for this coming week I am sticking to staples. I do have some things in the freezer which I will post on social media early next week, so if you are on Facebook or Instagram, keep an eye out! If not, you can always check with me via email.

I will be without technology for most of this weekend, but I will confirm your orders as usual on Monday afternoon or evening.

Have a lovely weekend, and don’t forget to get your orders in! Julia
